Climate Action Events

Keep California Beautiful is a partner with the Governor’s Office of Service and Community Engagement (GO-Serve) on a California Volunteers (CV) Infrastructure Grant. KCB will partner CV and the California Climate Action Corps (CCAC) to expand climate volunteer opportunities throughout the state. The volunteer opportunities focus on urban greening, organic waste and edible food recovery, and wildfire resiliency. The program will also be supported by a Microgrant program funded by the CV Infrastructure grant.

California Volunteers Microgrant Program

California Volunteers Microgrant Program will provide $200,000 to eligible entities to support climate volunteer events. Microgrant funds may be used by awardees to support allowable expenses related to staffing, materials and supplies, permit fees, or volunteer recruitment and management to execute planned volunteer events.

Eligible entities for this microgrant are defined as public agencies, California Tribal Governments, nonprofit organizations, or educational institutions. The project must support eligible climate volunteer service events. The grant may be used to fund projects on one or more of the following climate action focus areas: greening, organic waste and edible food recovery, wildfire resiliency, and/or Climate Action Counts priorities

Priority will be given to applications that outline a plan to allocate the majority of microgrant funds to events in April 2026 and September 2026. The grants will be awarded in four categories based on estimated minimum volunteer engagement at the event.
