I’m excited to give you a little update on our freeway litter cleanup program that contracts clients of the Bakersfield Homeless Center to clean up the local environment. Today at Harvard, City of Bakersfield Solid Waste Superintendent Sal Moretti and Bakersfield Homeless Center CEO Louis Gill presented the program as part of a 2 day colloquy on homelessness at Harvard.
- More than 350 men, women, and children have been able to move out of the homeless shelter so far directly because of this program. And even more have been helped in other ways.
- More than 640 tons of litter, brush, and debris cleaned up so far due to this program.
Keep Bakersfield Beautiful’s role as a board and as volunteers were also points in the discussion. The target audience of the colloquy are leaders on homelessness in the USA and Canada.
You’ll recall that KAB honored KBB with a national award for this program. Thank you for the support.
Have a beautiful day.
